Anna Allbury is a self-proclaimed high-heeled, flower-eating hippie who loves nothing more than playing with her food.

It all started when she was 7, in her native New Zealand, where one dinner consisting of leftovers plated-up to look like a human face, changed her perception of food forever.

Food had become something to experience, food wasn't just fuel - it was art.

Fast-forward a couple of decades, Anna is a TV writer in Melbourne - who still plays with her food in her spare time.  She has helped design menus for Melbourne cafes, garnered a love for creative flower-powered food, and was recently described by The Urban List as "the clean-eating version of Heston Blumenthal".

Anna enjoys coming up with recipes that make clean-eating fun, but believes that it's OK to let your hair down every now and then and eat 'dirty'. "Life is all about balance, just like mastering a good pair of heels!".

Being completely self-taught, Anna believes we're all fully qualified to play with our food - "All you need is a good idea, a little bit of courage, and a little bit of crazy to throw caution into the wind and give it a go! That's how all of my dishes have come to life."

The My Hippie Kitchen series is a passion project made with friends, showcasing just a few of those dishes.  More inspiration and ideas can be found on Anna's instagram page, and soon on the My Hippie Kitchen blog.
